Avantika is a Data Protection Consultant who obtained an undergraduate law degree from the University of Oxford, where she was a committee member of the Oxford Fintech & Legaltech Society, before completing an LLM in Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law from Queen Mary University of London. Avantika has previously volunteered with a commercial law clinic providing data protection advice and has obtained work experience at commercial law firms based in the UK and in Hong Kong. Avantika is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), with experience working with organisations in both the public and private sectors in fields ranging from technology to healthcare.
As a Data Protection Consultant, Avantika is well-versed in UK and European data protection legislation, as well as legislation related to Artificial Intelligence and online platforms, including the GDPR, UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, EU AI Act, and Online Safety Act 2023. Avantika has advised on data protection compliance for complex projects that involve sharing high volumes of sensitive personal data internationally for scientific research purposes, which required data processing and sharing agreements to facilitate cross-border transfers. In addition to advising on Privacy Policies, Avantika advises on AI Policies and best practices for employees of organisations frequently using AI-based solutions. Avantika also provides information governance training to organisations regarding data protection compliance and use of AI. Where organisations are involved in high-risk processing, Avantika has experience identifying risks and outlining relevant mitigations through Data Protection Impact Assessments and providing comprehensive advice via a Legal Opinion.
As a consultant, Avantika enjoys collaborating closely with clients to help them achieve their aims in alignment with data protection compliance. Avantika is outgoing and approachable and brings a focused approach to offering clients productive solutions tailored to their needs.
Outside of work, Avantika enjoys playing tennis and has recently taken up padel and can often be found attending a screening at the British Film Institute.
