Ekin Gur

Ekin is a Data Protection Consultant at Information Governance Services. Ekin obtained her undergraduate degree in Law from the University of Kent and specialised in Corporate and Commercial Law during her LLM at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences. With a strong interest in privacy and data protection, Ekin has since specialised in this area and is now a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).

As a Data Protection Advisor, Ekin is responsible in supporting consultants on all aspects of data protection law. Ekin has experience in assisting NHS organisations and other clients in healthcare industry in most aspects of data protection compliance, including providing data protection assurance on clinical and non-clinical research studies,  undertaking complex Data Protection Impact Assessments, and drafting of data sharing contracts. Ekin appreciates the importance of technical understanding and works with organisations to fully understand the technical and organisational aspects of data processing to conduct extensive risk assessments.

Ekin likes working closely with clients from the early stages of projects to implement ‘privacy by design and default’ strategies to help clients embed data protection into their programmes of work. With the increasing prevalence and use of AI, Ekin is eager to learn and continuous to examine the implications of AI in data protection governance and effective ways to achieve compliance with the relevant data protection legislations when using AI.

Ekin is highly dedicated to working with organisations to meet their legal obligations without hinderance to their strategic business goals. Ekin is a good team player who likes effective collaboration and is always ready to adapt to changing priorities and needs of clients.
