Tehlana is an Information Governance Consultant at IGS. Prior to joining the team, she studied at Queen Mary, University of London, graduating with first class honours from the Senior Status LLB program. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia concentrating on African American History and Law & Society. Tehlana now specialises in data protection and data privacy, holding Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe and Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States designations (CIPP/E and CIPP/US).
As a Consultant, Tehlana has collaborated with various organisations across the healthcare sector to develop and implement robust data protection strategies. With a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding patient data and regulatory compliance, Tehlana is committed to ensuring that our clients maintain the highest standards of data security and privacy.
On a regular basis, Tehlana conducts data protection impact assessments (DPIA), identifying privacy risks and ensuring the implementation of safeguards that are tailored to the client and will protect personal data throughout the lifecycle of the project. In addition to this, Tehlana has extensive experience in drafting and reviewing data sharing and data processing agreements, ensuring that such agreements align with the latest regulatory standards and adequately protects the interests of all parties involved. She takes a collaborative approach working with clients to achieve their goals and consistently brings a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset to every project. With exceptional attention to detail and a natural problem-solving ability, Tehlana ensures that every aspect of a project is carefully considered and executed to the highest standards.
Outside of work, Tehlana enjoys playing and watching volleyball and football, reading, travelling, and going on quests for the best pizza in town.
