Alex Mckeown

Alex is a bioethicist and philosopher by training, with specialisms including data ethics, ethics in machine learning and AI. Following his PhD at the University of Bristol, Alex held postdoctoral positions at institutions including University College London Medical School and the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry and Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities, where he spent six years as a Research Fellow. At Oxford, Alex worked on data and AI projects in Alzheimer’s disease and mental health, for funders including the UK Medical Research Council, Novartis Pharmaceuticals and the EU Innovative Medicines Initiative. He has published articles on a range of issues in data ethics and co-chaired the Oxford Mental Health Data Ethics Leadership group. Alex is committed to providing high quality, rigorous advice to clients on all aspects of ethics in data governance.
