Mila is a Data Protection Consultant for IGS, holding an LL.B. in International and European Law from the University of Groningen and an M.A. in Medical Ethics and Law from King’s College London. During her time at King’s she was awarded the Eleanor Betsy Scowen prize from the Dickson Poon School of Law for her dissertation.
Mila has since specialised in data protection and privacy law, having become a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E). As a fee earner, Mila’s consultancy experience ranges from advising clients in the public sector such as NHS bodies to clients in the private sector.
Mila has particular familiarity with discharging data subject rights, including subject access requests with varying levels of complexity. Her attention to detail complements her ability to draft policies and review data sharing and processing agreements for organisations both large and small. Mila’s expertise allows her to ably construct data flow maps that take account of data processing activities, whether in the context of clients’ business-as-usual operations or as part of their participation in regional and national data sharing projects. Mila has a breadth of experience in conducting data protection impact assessments and a knowledgeable approach to assessing risks arising from personal data breaches, whilst also assisting in their mitigation and communicating with the ICO and data subjects where required.
Mila enjoys building relationships with clients, and nurtures confidence in staff through delivering bespoke data protection and information governance training and involving individuals in the management of data protection spot checks. Mila enjoys taking a flexible approach towards clients’ needs and is passionate about furthering her knowledge in data protection.
